American Water's Dr. Mark LeChevallier to Speak at Water Reuse & Desalination Research Conference

VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation's largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, today announced that Dr. Mark LeChevallier, Director of Innovation and Environmental Stewardship, will be a presenter during the 16th Annual Water Reuse & Desalination Research Conference in San Diego, Calif. on June 4-5.

LeChevallier's presentation, titled "Energy Efficient Distributed Reuse Applications," will focus on the benefits of distributed treatment applications for wastewater reuse, including minimizing reuse water distribution systems, offloading existing collection systems, and providing a new source of supply to offset drinking water demands. American Water has implemented this approach in dozens of projects, including several residential buildings in New York's Battery Park City, such as the Solaire and Visionaire, which will be discussed in LeChevallier's presentation.

Hosted by The WateReuse Research Foundation, the conference provides an opportunity for the water reuse and desalination communities to hear more than 40 presentations on the latest results of ongoing research in a forum to interact, network, and discuss current and future research needs and trends. The focus of the conference is on research that is likely to generate future scientific breakthroughs in water reuse and desalination.
