American Water will invest almost $6 billion over the next
five years in infrastructure improvements
VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Each year, American Water (NYSE: AWK) invests around $1 billion
nationally on infrastructure assets to continue to provide essential
services to customers. As part of that commitment, today, American Water
announced its participation in the national advocacy and educational
event, Infrastructure Week, which takes place from May 15-19, 2017.

Recently, the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) latest Report
Card for America's Infrastructure, issued every four years since 2001,
gave the nation's water systems a D grade and wastewater systems a D+
grade. This remains in line with the last few reports, and heightens the
sense of urgency to take actions that will turn around the condition of
this often-overlooked category of infrastructure.
According to a recent study commissioned the Value of Water Campaign
(VoW), investment in water infrastructure has direct economic benefits
