Jeffry Sterba
President and Chief Executive Officer

Jeff Sterba is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. Mr. Sterba brings more than 30 years of exceptional operational experience and a wealth of industry knowledge to American Water.
Mr. Sterba leads a team of approximately 6,700 dedicated professionals who provide drinking water, wastewater and other related services to an estimated14 million people in more than 30 states and parts of Canada. He is responsible for developing the overall strategy and vision of American Water and directing its key business development initiatives.
Prior to joining American Water on August 16, 2010, Mr. Sterba served as Chairman and CEO of PNM Resources, Inc., the parent company of PNM, Texas-New Mexico Power Company (TNMP) and First Choice Power, from 2000 until March 2010. He currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman of PNM Resources. Since joining PNM in 1977, he held a succession of positions including Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President Bulk Power Services, Senior Vice President Asset Restructuring, Senior Vice President Retail Electric & Water Services and Vice President Revenue Management. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Sterba was Executive Vice President of United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC), a global energy company headquartered in Maryland.
Mr. Sterba is a nationally recognized thought leader in the areas of energy policy, climate change legislation, renewable energy, and sustainability. He has served as chair of Edison Electric Institute, the national association of shareholder owned utilities, and chair of the Electric Power Research Institute, a non-profit center for energy and environment research. He serves on the board of directors of the Meridian Institute and is a member of the Business Environmental Leadership Council for the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. Mr. Sterba also previously served on the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and is a recipient of the Keystone Leadership in Industry Award and numerous other national and local honors.
Mr. Sterba has been actively involved in community and economic development efforts. He served as a community board member for Wells Fargo of New Mexico, on the board of directors of the Albuquerque Community Foundation, and as a member of the Kirtland Partnership Committee. He has also chaired the Albuquerque Economic Forum, United Way of Central New Mexico, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and the Middle Rio Grande Business Education Compact.
Mr. Sterba attended Washington University in St. Louis, earning a bachelor’s degree and completing post-graduate work in economics, and was accepted as a PhD candidate at the University of Chicago. He resides in Philadelphia, and is married with two grown children.

Walter Lynch
President and Chief Operating Officer of Regulated Operations

Walter Lynch is president and chief operating officer of regulated operations for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. He previously served as the president of regulated operations, and assumed this new, expanded role in March 2010. In his current role, Mr. Lynch is responsible for the successful performance of American Water’s 16 regulated states, serving approximately 1,100 communities, and for leading other areas including the company’s two national customer call centers, as well as labor relations and regulatory policy. In addition, Mr. Lynch leads the company’s business transformation effort, which ensures that the company employs the proper technology and processes to execute its key strategies.
Mr. Lynch previously served as the executive vice president of Business Operations for the company’s Eastern Division. The division encompasses eight states stretching from Tennessee to New York and has approximately 2,600 employees. Prior to that, he was president of American Water’s Northeast Region. In this role, he oversaw more than 1,000 employees and was responsible for operations that provided more than 2 million people in New Jersey and New York with water and wastewater services. Mr. Lynch also served as president of American Water Products and Services Group. In this capacity, he led and developed 10 non-regulated business lines with more than $500 million in revenue and 1,500 employees.
A veteran of environment-related businesses for more than 20 years, Mr. Lynch originally joined American Water Services in 2001 as president of the Southwest Region, overseeing a 12-state region with multiple business lines. He was responsible for all aspects of service delivery, business development and sales and marketing. Prior to that, he spent a number of years in the solid waste and residuals business, where he led successful start-ups and high-growth organizations. He also worked for Mobil Oil Corp.
Mr. Lynch has a broad range of expertise which includes engineering, operations, sales and marketing, regulatory compliance and business development.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he holds a bachelor’s in general engineering and attained the rank of Captain before his departure from the U.S. Army in 1990.

Susan N. Story
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Susan N. Story is chief financial officer (CFO) of American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, Ms. Story has responsibility for all financial functions, including directing and coordinating all company financial objectives and obligations; ensuring the integrity of financial statements; developing budgets for both annual and interim periods; developing cash management investment strategies; maintaining a financially solvent organization; leading Sarbanes-Oxley; and overseeing the shared services organization.
With more than 30 years of utility experience, Ms. Story is well-versed in overseeing complex financial systems, optimizing cost structures and strengthening internal controls. Prior to joining American Water in April 2013, Ms. Story served as executive vice president of Southern Company, one of America's largest generators of electricity serving both regulated and competitive markets across the southeastern United States. In this capacity, she was a member of the company’s management council and was president and CEO of Southern Company Services Inc., with responsibilities for functional support of all of Southern Company’s subsidiaries. She is also an independent director of Raymond James Financial, a diversified financial services company.
Previously, Ms. Story served as president and CEO of Gulf Power Company, a Florida subsidiary of Southern Company. She has also served as Southern Company’s executive vice president of Engineering and Construction Services, where she had oversight for budgets and schedules of numerous combined cycle power plants and large environmental retrofit projects. Ms. Story began her career at Southern Company as a nuclear power plant engineer and had increasing responsibilities in operations, human resources, customer service, corporate real estate and supply chain.
Ms. Story is actively involved in community and economic development efforts. She currently serves as the national chair for the Center for Energy Workforce Development, and is on the boards of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Alliance to Save Energy. While in Florida, she was appointed to the Federal Judiciary Nominating Commission, the Florida Base Realignment and Closure advisory council and the Task Force on Healthcare Accessibility and Affordability. Ms. Story was a political appointment to the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission, required by Florida law. In addition, she was appointed chair of the Finance and Taxation Committee, which had responsibility for assessing the effects and appropriateness of financial structures of the state and its local governments.
Ms. Story attended executive education programs at Duke University and Oxford University in England, and completed international business studies at Cambridge University and leadership studies at Harvard. She earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She completed additional post-graduate coursework in the Master of Finance program at the University of Alabama focusing on financial derivatives, and at the Birmingham School of Law focusing on torts and contracts.

Kellye Walker
Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel

Kellye Walker is chief administrative officer and general counsel of American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. Her position was expanded in September 2010 from her previous role as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
In this role, Ms. Walker oversees and provides strategic direction for American Water’s Human Resources, Communications and Information Technology Services departments. In addition, she serves as the chief legal officer of American Water, providing oversight, guidance and direction regarding legal advice on all matters, and oversees its team of attorneys responsible for all aspects of American Water’s legal affairs, as well as corporate governance and board matters.
Prior to joining American Water in January 2010, Ms. Walker served as senior vice president and general counsel at Diageo North America, Inc., where she was responsible for all corporate and commercial legal matters including mergers and acquisitions, human resources and labor relations, procurement and regulatory compliance. She also previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc.
Other previous experience includes serving as a partner with the law firm of Hill & Barlow in Boston, Mass., and a partner and/or associate with the firms of Chaffe, McCall, Phillips, Toler & Sarpy in New Orleans, La., and Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry in Nashville, Tenn.
In 2011, Ms. Walker received the Women of Distinction award from The Philadelphia Business Journal and National Association of Women Business Owners. The award honors 25 of the region's most influential business women who are making headlines in their professional field and their community.

Mark Strauss
Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development

Mark Strauss is senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and Business Development. Named to this position in 2010, Mr. Strauss is responsible for working with the senior management team to link overall strategy and major growth efforts for American Water’s regulated and competitive operations.
Mr. Strauss was previously president of American Water Enterprises, the non-regulated products and services division of American Water. In this role, Mr. Strauss oversaw American Water’s non-regulated business units that offer operations and maintenance contract services across the United States and Canada, including water and wastewater management for military bases, service-line protection programs, design, construction and operation of community onsite water and wastewater systems, and other innovative solutions that address a variety of challenges facing the industry.
Previously, Mr. Strauss served as president and chief executive officer of Applied Water Management Group, American Water’s fully-integrated water and wastewater infrastructure design, build, finance, own and operate affiliate, which provides customized water and wastewater management solutions to real estate developers, industrial clients, and small to midsized communities. During his tenure, Mr. Strauss was credited with bringing to fruition projects that include the Solaire in New York City, the nation's first on-site water recycling system built inside a multi-family residential building, to winning the Governor's Environmental Excellence Award for a water reclamation project in New Jersey.
Mr. Strauss joined American Water’s Applied Water Management Group in 1997 as corporate counsel and secretary. He was promoted to the position of chief operating officer in 2002, a position he held until his appointment as division president and chief executive officer in 2003.
Prior to that, he had been with Vizzoni Brothers Construction, Inc. as vice president and general counsel. Mr. Strauss was an associate/junior partner at the law firm of Ozzard, Rizzolo, Klein, Mauro & Savo, and an Associate at the law firm of Toolan, Romond, Abbot and Domenichetti.
He is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, the board of directors of Skylands Community Bank, and the Design/Build Institute of America.

John R. Bigelow is senior vice president of Business Services for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, Mr. Bigelow is responsible for further driving efficiencies and best practices across the American Water footprint. He also leads certain centralized support functions to achieve operational excellence.
Mr. Bigelow joined American Water in 1994 and successfully held a number of senior management positions during his tenure. He most recently served as president of New Jersey American Water where he was responsible for customer, regulatory and local government relationships, operational and financial results, and was the principal external contact for American Water in New Jersey. He also served as American Water’s senior vice president of Regulatory Programs and Enterprise Risk Management and as the company's chief financial officer from December 2003 to February 2006 and was primarily responsible for the financial activities of the company.
Additionally, Mr. Bigelow served as vice president and treasurer of New Jersey American Water and director, vice president and treasurer of New Jersey American Resources Company. In these positions, his overall responsibilities included leadership of accounting procurement, information services, finance, business development, customer service, rates and contract pricing and negotiation.
Mr. Bigelow began his career with GPU System Companies, where he spent a total of 18 years in various leadership roles in the finance area.

Sharon C. Cameron is president of American Water Enterprises, the market-based products and services division of American Water. Named to this position in 2010, Ms. Cameron oversees American Water’s four market-based business units, which offer operations and maintenance contract services, and other innovative solutions to address a variety of challenges facing the industry, across the United States and Canada.
American Water Enterprises’ business units include its Contract Services Group and Military Services Group, which provide design, construction, operation and management of water and wastewater systems through contracts with municipalities and industrial clients, and military bases, respectively. The company’s Homeowner Services Group, operating under the name American Water Resources, Inc., provides water and wastewater service line and in-home plumbing protection programs to homeowners directly and through partnerships with municipalities. The Service Line Protection Program was launched ten years ago and has quickly become the fastest growing business at American Water, enrolling nearly 1 million customer contracts. The program is also offered to municipal water systems across the country.
Prior to joining American Water, Ms. Cameron was principal of Marketing Solutions, a marketing consulting firm she launched in 1998, and was a consultant to American Water on the Homeowner Services business. Previously, Ms. Cameron served as vice president of Marketing and Sales at Comcast Corporation (New Jersey), senior marketing manager at Menley & James Laboratories, and marketing manager at Campbell Soup Company.
Ms. Cameron has received several awards. In 2012, she was named one of South Jersey Biz Magazine's “Women to Watch”, recognizing 15 exceptional women who continue to transform the landscape of South Jersey.

Mark S. Smith

Mark S. Smith is vice president and chief information officer of American Water. Appointed to this position in September 2012, Mr. Smith is responsible for all aspects of information technology service delivery and management including Information Technology Services’ (ITS) support of American Water’s business transformation and SAP migration. Mr. Smith brings nearly 30 years of technology expertise and leadership experience in the development, implementation, and support of IT solutions. His strategic focus for the ITS organization is one based on developing internal business partnerships, establishing a service oriented culture, and optimizing (and making more transparent) IT costs.
Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has worked to foster IT cultures of collaboration and business sensitivity with a focus on results and practical utilization of technology. In his former position as ITS Senior Director, Business Application Development & Project Management Office, Mr. Smith was accountable for delivering quality, timely business application solutions for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and field operations. During his tenure in this role, Mr. Smith drove the delivery of American Water’s first customer self-service web portal, the ITS department’s first comprehensive portfolio management solution, and also established the department's first set of technical career paths aimed at broadening and deepening key technology skill sets. More recently, Mr. Smith and his team established the Technology Solutions Council (TSC) that works collaboratively with ITS to prioritize and select the business-driven, ITS-enabled projects in support of the company's long-term aspirational goals.
Prior to joining American Water in 2008, Mr. Smith held several roles with Siemens Medical Solutions including Group Manager of Management Information Systems and Director of the Shared Services Office where he was responsible for enterprise and system level architecture definition, administration and implementation for internal development as well as custom commercial applications. While with Siemens, Mr. Smith was promoted to Director of the Siebel Competency Center, for which he led the Customer Relationship Management [CRM] implementation for over 1,600 users during a merger of three large domestic sales organizations. These responsibilities included the management of both on-site and off-shore resources and also led to the development of an international configuration and pricing tool used globally by over 3,000 employees. During his 23-year career with Siemens and Shared Medical Systems (pre-acquisition), Mr. Smith was nominated and awarded eight individual and team performance awards.
Mr. Smith is actively involved in community efforts and serves as Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors for Touch New Jersey, Inc., a nonprofit organization providing food bank services in southern New Jersey. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Most recently, Mr. Smith was named in Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2013. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computers and information systems from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors.

Edward D. Vallejo

Edward D. Vallejo is vice president of Investor Relations at American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this position, Mr. Vallejo is responsible for developing investor relations strategies and serving as American Water’s liaison with the financial analyst and investor communities.
Mr. Vallejo, who has extensive experience in corporate finance, capital markets and investment banking, was hired for his position in April 2006 to create a comprehensive investor relations program in preparation of the company’s initial public offering in April 2008. Prior to rejoining American Water, Mr. Vallejo served as the chief financial officer of Thames Water Chile, where he was responsible for all aspects of financial strategies, processes and operations.
From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Vallejo held various positions of increasing responsibility with American Water, including vice president of Mergers & Acquisitions and Treasurer. He began his career in the utilities sector in 1994 as an investment banker for PaineWebber, covering electric, gas and water companies, completing numerous equity, debt and M&A transactions.

Maureen Duffy

Maureen Duffy is the vice president of Corporate Communications and External Affairs for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, Ms. Duffy is responsible for leading a strategic and integrated communications program for American Water, encompassing Internal and External Communications as well as Corporate Responsibility.
Prior to this role, Ms. Duffy served as the executive director of Corporate Communications and External Affairs where she led internal and external communications. She also has served as the director of External Communications and led all aspects of American Water's external communication efforts, including national media relations. She acts as a key partner in increasing American Water's visibility and promoting its reputation. She also works closely with all other functions and operations across the business to align and integrate company messaging, as well as further position American Water as an industry leader on both a national and local scale.
Ms. Duffy is a results oriented team leader with more than 15 years of experience in the communications field. She has served as director of Internal Communications for American Water. In this position, Ms. Duffy realigned American Water's internal communications team and drove its strategic direction thus ensuring consistent communications with all internal audiences. Ms. Duffy also served in the communications function for New Jersey American Water and Long Island American Water, where she was responsible for internal and external communications, as well as government affairs.
Prior to working for American Water, Ms. Duffy reported and produced news for WNJN/WNET-TV, with audiences in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. She also anchored the weekend updates for the station. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she received a bachelor's in communications. Ms. Duffy is also an active member of the National Association of Water Companies, where she is a member of its communication committee.

Suzann Boylan is the vice president of Human Resources for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, Ms. Boylan is responsible for all human resources functions, including staffing and integration; organization and leadership development; compensation and benefits; and labor and employee relations.
With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Boylan is well-versed in performance management, compensation, benefits, talent management and employee engagement. Prior to joining American Water, Ms. Boylan was the chief human resources officer of Radian Group Inc. in Philadelphia, where she led her team to implement a strategic talent management and engagement strategy, enhanced the company's leadership development and performance management programs and implemented a new compensation strategy better aligned to the company's long-term vision. Prior to Radian Group, Ms. Boylan held a number of roles within human resources at biopharmaceutical firm Covance, ADP and Citicorp, and more recently State Street Corporation, where she provided strategic leadership as senior vice president and chief administrative officer supporting more than 27,000 employees in 26 countries.
Ms. Boylan holds a master’s degree in human resources from Villanova University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Montclair State University.

Mark Chesla is vice president and controller of American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, Mr. Chesla has responsibility for corporate accounting, financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and income tax.
Prior to joining American Water in 2007, Mr. Chesla served as vice president and controller of Oglethorpe Power Corporation, a wholesale electric generation company. In this role, Mr. Chesla oversaw all accounting, reporting, budgeting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance functions and was an active member of the company’s risk management committee.
From 1998 thru 2001, Mr. Chesla was employed by SouthStar Energy Services, Inc. as vice president administration/controller. Over the course of his tenure his responsibilities included finance, accounting, information technology services and human resources.
Mr. Chesla has over nine years experience in public accounting which included positions with both PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte & Touche. Additionally he has held various roles with increasing responsibility in corporate accounting and finance.
Mr. Chesla received a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University. He and his wife, Emily, have two children, a daughter and a son.

Kathy L. Pape joined American Water in July 2007 as president of Pennsylvania American Water, the largest regulated water utility in the Commonwealth, providing quality water and wastewater services to approximately 2.2 million people in 390 communities. In this role, Pape drives operational and financial results, leads customer, regulatory and local government relationships, and is the principal external contact for American Water in Pennsylvania. Additionally, she serves as senior vice president of the Mid-Atlantic division, leading the presidents of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
In April 2008, Governor Rendell appointed Pape to the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Task Force. Pape was among 30 task force members from across the Commonwealth whom the Governor selected to address the funding shortfall facing Pennsylvania’s aging and deteriorated water infrastructure.
Prior to rejoining American Water, Pape served as senior vice president, treasurer and rate counsel for Aqua America Inc., with responsibility for all financing activities, billing, rates and regulatory filings, budgeting and long-range planning. As vice president, treasurer and rate counsel, Pape led the company's effort to manage numerous, successful rate cases resulting from the company’s growth from a one-state system to 13 states with hundreds of systems. She also reduced the company's long-term debt costs, saving money for the company and customers.
From 1994 to 1999, Pape was employed by American Water as regional counsel and manager of finance, where her responsibilities included rates and regulatory affairs, finance, budgeting and customer service for 10 states.
Pape has also worked as vice president and corporate counsel for General Waterworks Management and Service Company, as an assistant counsel to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and as an assistant consumer advocate for the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate.
Pape has more than 30 years’ experience in the utility industry and is a nationally recognized expert on the water and wastewater industries.
Active in her community, Pape dedicated 15 years of service to Whitpain Township as a member and chair of its Planning Commission and as a member of its Zoning Hearing Board. She also served on the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Board of Trustees of Gwynedd Mercy Academy. She is past chair of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies and serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Business Council, in addition to serving on the boards of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the Earth Conservancy. Pape also served for several years on the Faculty of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). Jeffrey L. McIntyre is President of West Virginia American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. McIntyre previously served as Vice President of Operations for the Contract Services Group of American Water Enterprises, Inc., from 2010 to 2012. American Water Enterprises comprises American Water’s market-based business units that offer operations and maintenance contract services across the U.S. and Canada, including design, construction and operation of community onsite water and wastewater systems, service-line protection programs, water and wastewater management for military bases and other innovative solutions that address a variety of challenges facing the industry. In this role, McIntyre was responsible for overseeing all water and wastewater operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts for municipal, industrial and private facility owners. McIntyre has also contributed his expertise to assist in process and management audits, performing due diligence reviews for new business projects, O&M contract negotiations and renewals, and process trouble shooting throughout North America.
McIntyre joined American Water in 2002 as Director of Operations with American Water Canada Corp. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the Canadian O&M business including 25 client contracts and over 200 water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection facilities across the province of Ontario.
Prior to joining American Water, Mr. McIntyre served as Manager of Water Quality for the city of Hamilton, where he was responsible for the operation and maintenance of three wastewater treatment plants, treating between one and 105 million gallons per day (MGD), a 230 MGD conventional water treatment plant, four communal well systems and over 160 pumping stations and reservoirs. He was also responsible for capital planning and implementation activities for these facilities, maintaining O&M agreements, and overseeing the city’s certified environmental laboratory. McIntyre also led the city’s efforts to de-list Hamilton Harbour as an area of concern at an anticipated cost of over $600 million.
McIntyre’s additional experience includes positions with Philip Utilities Management Corporation, the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth and the Royal Canadian Navy. A graduate of Brock University, McIntyre holds several professional certifications in water and wastewater operations and engineering. He is a member of the Water Environment Association of Ontario, for which he previously served as a board member and committee chair. A native of Richmond, Ind., Mr. Allen holds certifications in water and wastewater treatment, as well as backflow prevention, in multiple states. He remained at Indiana American Water until 2005, serving in operational management positions of increasing responsibility in the Wabash Valley District, Muncie District and the Northwest Operations headquartered in Gary. In these roles, Moore served as a key contact for 17 different cities and several communities and managed a 300,000 customer water treatment, processing and distribution operation.
In 2005, Mr. Moore briefly left American Water to serve as vice president of operations for Earth Tech, where he oversaw a team of approximately 150 employees who delivered water and wastewater service in the United States and Canada.
Mr. Moore earned his master’s of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and his bachelor’s in Business Management from Indiana State University. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan where has he taught classes on management theory and philosophy.
Mr. Moore has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Water Works Association and the National Association of Water Companies. He has also served as a trustee for the Marion County (Ohio) United Way and as an executive board member for the Black Heritage Council. Robert MacLean has served as President of California American Water since April of 2009 and President of Hawaii American Water since November of 2011.
California American Water is a CPUC-regulated water and wastewater utility which provides high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to more than 600,000 people in multiple locations throughout California. California American Water has established itself as an industry leader in many areas, including safety and conservation, and has also gained tremendous experience with water based budgeting and tiered rates in its Monterey, CA service area.
Hawaii American Water is a regulated water and wastewater utility which provides high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to more than 30,000 Hawaiians.
Mr. MacLean joined American Water in 1999. Prior to his current position, he was the director of Field Operations for New Jersey American Water, serving approximately 2.5 million people. Prior to joining New Jersey American Water, Mr. MacLean served in various other roles within the American Water organization. He worked for American Water’s market-based business, serving as vice president of Contract Operations. In this role, Mr. MacLean was responsible for managing more than thirty large contract operations and directed approximately 750 employees in both the United States and Canada. He was responsible for drinking water production to over 4 million people through several of the company’s largest and most sophisticated treatment facilities and for wastewater services to 1.8 million people.
In March 2013, Mr. MacLean was elected to the California Chamber of Commerce board of directors. In July 2012, he was elected to the board of directors of the National Utilities Diversity Council (NUDC), a national non-profit organization focusing on the growth of diversity in the utilities industry. He also serves on the board of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC).
Mr. MacLean earned his master’s degree in applied science in civil engineering from Polytechnique University in Montreal and his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from McGill University in Montreal.
